LAP3 Pro-Tuner V2.5 Install Guide for the Kia Stinger & Genesis G70/G80/G90 3.3T
Tools Needed
Medium Sized Flathead screwdriver or panel popper tool
10-12 large Zip Ties, Wire Stripper, 10mm Socket set up w/minor extension, Ramps, Lift, or Jack stands, and an Android device with Google Play Store access. About 30min-1hr depending on experience.
Sensor Location reference picture
Step 1. Lift vehicle or elevate using actual ramps, lift or jack stands & disconnect the battery. *If your vehicle does not have ISG system (Idle Stop & Go), do not lift the car. Disconnect the battery and go to the next step.
Step 2 Locate LAMDA sensors 1 & 2 located on the driver and passenger sides as pictured
Step 3 Pull back sleeve and locate red wire on each sensor cable
Step 4 Strip a small bit of each of the blue wires for the included red Posi Taps for the LAMDA sensor wires
Step 5 Apply the Posi Tap to the red wire on each of the 2 LAMDA sensors and then connect the other half of the Posi Tap thats attached to the blue wires coming from the ProTuner
Step 6 Locate the section of cable labeled BOOST from the Pro-Tuner. Feed the harness from the back of the motor under the intake manifold to have a cleaner look.
Step 7 Locate the vehicle BOOST sensor and disconnect and reconnect corresponding plugs
Step 8 Locate the MAP section of the cable and MAP sensor on the vehicle and repeat the same steps as the BOOST sensor
Step 9 *(ISG Equipped Vehicle Only. If you do not have ISG system, skip to Step 11)* Locate the CRANK sensor cable NOT LABELED and feed it down the firewall on the drivers side missing anything that gets hot like exhaust etc
Step 10 Locate the CRANK sensor(3pin) which is located between the drivers side downpipe (Bend back the heatshield to expose sensor plug) and the engine block/transmission housing as pictured. Then follow the same disconnect and reconnect process as the BOOST and MAP sensors. *Some aftermarket secondary downpipes may require removal to reach the sensor **Once you connected the crank sensor wires, pull the wire back up from the top of the engine bay, and secure them. If the crank sensor harness is hanging loose by the downpipe, you may melt & damage the harness, which will cause drivability issues. So make sure to pull up the harness as much as you can to avoid this issue**
Step 11 (Optional Speed limiter Delete - make sure to have your battery disconnected) Locate the ECU harness plug under the plastic cover along the firewall on the drivers side and cut and remove the insulating tape to expose the wires. Then locate the white wire with the black stripe. Cut the white wire with the black stripe. Splice each end of the green and White+Green stripe wire coming from the ProTuner to each of the spliced white wire with the black stripe as pictured. The White/Green wire connects to the white+black wire going into the ECU, and the solid green wire connects to the other other end of the white+black wire.
Step 12 Locate and connect power wire from the ProTuner to terminal location pictured (using a 10mm socket set up) and run the wire under the hood seal along firewall to avoid damaging.
Step 13 Connect the CANbus cable to the "Diagnostic Port" located next to the ECU. Now you should have only one harness with a white plug, and it doesn't get used as we use it to update firmware. So you can zip tie it with the rest of the harnesses.
Step 14:
The 2 Pin Gray connector is for the V2 ICM (Water Meth Injection System) & 4 pin white connector is for developer firmware update cable. Use electrical tape to seal them as they are not being used. The V2 Meth Injection system can be purchased @https://www.lap3usa.com/product-page/pro-tuner-v2-meth-injection-kit
Step 15: Secure the Pro-Tuner and all wires away from major heat sources like exhaust or turbo housing with zip ties, and connect the main Pro-Tuner Harness plug to the Pro-Tuner ECU. *Please make sure to protect the Pro-Tuner ECU & Harness from water. If you are using a pressure washer to wash the vehicle, please make sure to cover them with something to prevent water damage. Water damage is not covered under warranty.* The remaining white connector is not used, and you can tie it up with other harnesses, organize, and secure it behind the intake manifold for clean install. Once everything is organized, it should look like the photo below.
Step 16:
Connect the Battery Step 17: Check the Manufacture date stamped behind the Pro-Tuner ECU. Grab your Android/Apple iOS device, install the following PROSS app from Google Play store based on the manufacture date. (*V1 does not have any manufacture date listed on the back)
Link to download Pro-Tuner V1.0 App(Manufacture date 2018): PROSS BT V1 Link to download Pro-Tuner V2.0 App(Manufacture date 2019): PROSS BT V2
Link to download Pro-Tuner V2.5 App(Manufacture date 2020): PROSS BT V2.5
Step 18: Start the car and pair the device through the Bluetooth Setting. *If you have V2.5, skip the bluetooth pairing process as it doesn't need to be paired
Step 19 When you open the app, it will ask you for serial# on the Setting tab. The Serial numbers are located behind the Bluetooth module. Once its up and running, confirm the 3 indicators (Bluetooth,OBD2,Uncle Chip) on the app are red. If you can't connect to it, try closing and re-opening the app. If it still doesn't pair and connect, re-install the app and repeat the process.
Step 18 Select the ECU CONTROL MODE button and to choose your mode. (For V1 Users, scroll down to the next step)
V2 & V2.5 Pro-Tuner Mapping :
Mode 1 - Stock Map
Mode 2 - 93+ Octane Mapping
Mode 3 - 95+ Octane Mapping (~5gal of E85 mix w/ 93 fill-up or Race Fuel mix is recommended)
Meth Mode - Meth Mapping (Requires V2 Meth Kit & 80% M1 Methanol mix) User Mode - 91 Octane Mapping, which can be customized by the user
Pro-Tuner V1 Mapping: Mode 0 - Stock Map Mode 1 - 91 Octane Mapping Mode 2 - 93 Octane Mapping or (91 Octane + ~4 Gallons of E85) Mode 3 - Meth Tune Mapping (80% WMI with a ~500mm Nozzle. Injection Start between 5-10psi & Max Spray @ 15-20psi)
